WMPC 1230AM: Where Many Preach Christ

About WMPC

WMPC 1230AM is owned and operated by the Calvary Bible Church of Lapeer, Michigan. The station began broadcasting on December 6, 1926 from a homemade transmitter in the Methodist Protestant Church. In fact that’s where WMPC gets its name. Later the church moved to its new and current location, and changed its name to Calvary Bible Church. WMPC is the oldest continuously operating Christian radio station in the United States. It has only had four managers over the years: Reverend Frank Hemingway, Pastor Arnold Bracy, Robert (Bob) Baldwin and currently, Ed LeVoir. Gospel 1230 WMPC plays a mix of inspirational music and God honoring programs, which continue to meet the needs of listeners in Lapeer, Flint, Imlay City and Northern Oakland County. WMPC is a non-commercial radio station and holds a Sharathon (usually in the Spring) to raise the revenue needed to continue broadcasting.

In a world filled with sin and its power, WMPC has been instrumental in helping Christians stay focused on God, whom we serve. At the same time, the programming has influenced many listeners to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Satan and sin are our enemies and are attacking us 24 hours a day. Thankfully, there are stations like WMPC to give us strength and encouragement. Gospel 1230 WMPC bridges the gap from Sunday to Sunday. Whether it's the Bible teaching programs, inspirational music, or just a comforting word from a friend, WMPC preaches God's Word and Salvation through His one and only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. That is what WMPC is all about.
